Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) called out the committee looking into the events of January 6th, 2021, during the Capitol riots. In his claims, he wanted to insist that people are not allowed to communicate freely. He also attempted to assert himself in the belief that they weren’t willing to step up and do the right thing.
“We all agree with the First Amendment, but the problem is that the First Amendment is not absolute. It does not protect any single thing anyone says, and there are limits, and that’s important. And what this committee has been trying to do for the last year and a half is to chill the federal government for monitoring what is going on on social media and otherwise out there so that misinformation and disinformation can run rampant on Elon Musk’s social platform and every other social platform so that they, the Republicans, can benefit from it in the November election.”
His insinuation that Musk is making things worse is beyond laughable. The social platform he runs, X/Twitter, is the only one that is not being bought out by the liberals through their “fact-checking” companies, and mainstream media. While to the left, this kind of distinction is a minor point in their minds, it is an important one.
Listening to Goldman try to limit free speech is horrific. The limits are things like yelling “Fire” in a quiet theater. Not people offering different viewpoints or planning a protest. Hell, protests themselves also aren’t against the First Amendment, as the liberals love trying to remind everyone when they hold them. Watching someone like this horrible excuse of a Representative use the First Amendment like a punchline should light a fury under the ass of every American.
