Zuckerberg is Clearing the Way for a Trump Comeback

Guess Who’s Back…Back Again…

After two years into a “lifetime” banishment, President Donald Trump is returning to social media.

While Elon Musk gave him back Twitter access back in November, Mark Zuckerberg and the rest of Meta wanted to keep him off Facebook and Instagram for life as they had promised. This censorship on social media meant Trump had to turn elsewhere, and with his Truth Social not taking off as strongly as anticipated the major platforms were needed with the 2024 election coming up.

Booted off main social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) following the January 6th riots at Capitol Hill, Trump has found himself largely only able to communicate with his legion of fans through his son and other mediums. This is no way to run a campaign, and recently Trump announced his plans to meet with Meta’s leadership to obtain his access back.

Doing what the general public has never really been able to do, he got the sit down to talk about getting his accounts back. Nick Clegg, the company’s president of global affairs announced that he will have access back “in the coming weeks,” with “new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses.”

While this may seem like censorship to many, this is a step towards getting back to the masses and it will allow him to convey his message to millions of Americans. With many of them being shut out from his voice, being able to get everyone back on the same page is a welcome time, no matter how it’s happening. It won’t be easy though.

Clegg clarified a bit about what this return will mean for Trump. On the company website, he stated that this reinstitution will include “heightened penalties for repeat offenses — penalties which will apply to other public figures whose accounts are reinstated from suspensions related to civil unrest under our updated protocol. In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed, and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation.”

Using the only platform, he currently has full access to, Trump responded to the removal of his ban on Truth Social. “FACEBOOK, which has lost Billions of Dollars in value since “deplatforming” your favorite President, me, has just announced that they are reinstating my account. Such a thing should never again happen to a sitting President, or anybody else who is not deserving of retribution! THANK YOU TO TRUTH SOCIAL FOR DOING SUCH AN INCREDIBLE JOB. YOUR GROWTH IS OUTSTANDING, AND FUTURE UNLIMITED!!!”

For many, this change could also represent a huge shift in the policies of Meta and may allow many to recover accounts that were canceled due to past violations. Given the number of people who have been “Zucked” since Facebook became the main social media channel, it could turn the landscape around completely.

This has its pros and cons. With so many of the liberal left reporting everything they don’t agree with, it is only a matter of time before Trump gets a ban for simply speaking his truth. With their inability to take a differing opinion, and his grinding their gears so thoroughly, it won’t take very long for one of them to get offended. Even if he posted a photo of him waiving while holding a yellow lab puppy, people would still report the post as hate speech.

This will ultimately test the censors on Meta and could eventually force leadership there to expand their customer service options. With many getting locked out due to people “report bombing” their accounts (using multiple accounts to report someone for a false violation), there has been little recourse in fixing the issue.

If you happen to know someone whose cousin had a college roommate, who had drinks with a lady once in LA, and she knew the ex-sister-in-law from someone who worked there, then you might get lucky. Minus that you have been tits up on getting any resolution.

Time will tell how this will go, but given the past liberal response to his presence on social media, it’s likely to be a raging dumpster fire from the first post.
