The ATF Is Now Officially Coming After Your Guns

For centuries now, patriots have been warning the American people about the government coming for your guns. While many liberals have been laughing at this like it’s a joke or an overreaction, time and time again has proven it to be true. At first, it was automatic weapons, then it was silencers.

Now, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) wants to come after your stabilizer braces. Finalized on January 13th, the new rule gives owners 120 days to register their firearms. A major problem is already in front of them, as they don’t seem to know how many are out in the public already. Official notes to NPR are pegging the number somewhere around 3 million, but the Congressional Research Service puts that number somewhere along the 10 to 40 million figure.

With the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit striking down their attempt at a bump stock ban on Jan. 6, 2023, the ATF might have a long road against them in enforcing this rule in the near future. Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod penned the Fifth Circuit’s majority opinion, and she saw how charged the country was following the Las Vegas mass shooting on October 1, 2017.

“Public pressure to ban bump stocks was tremendous. Multiple bills to that effect were introduced in both houses of Congress. But before they could be considered in earnest, ATF published the regulation at issue here, short-circuiting the legislative process. Appellant Michael Cargill…challenges the legality of that regulation, arguing that a bump stock does not fall within the definition of “machinegun” as set forth in federal law, and thus that ATF lacked the authority to issue a regulation purporting to define the term as such.”

Elrod expanded on this by stating that the ATF had violated the “rule of lenity” with their imposition of criminal liability for purchasing a product that was perfectly legal at the time of purchase. With Congress not yet acting on any attempts to pass a ban on braces, there is hope that this rule change simply dies off or is challenged and defeated. Considering it is nothing but attacking people just for enjoying shooting, they don’t have much reason for the ban.

Should the ATF be able to fully implement this rule, they have provided four options for those who don’t want to register their stabilizing brace.

• Turn in the entire firearm with the attached “stabilizing brace” to ATF;
• Destroy the whole firearm;
• Convert the short-barreled rifle into a long-barreled rifle;
• Permanently remove and dispose of, or alter, the “stabilizing brace” from the firearm so that it cannot be reattached.

None of these “solutions” are acceptable, nor is registering a brace. This attempt to come after firearms is something they need to give up on. The American people not only will not stand for it, but they are not going to willingly hand over their firearms or even register them. With the way the second amendment is written, they don’t have to, nor should they.

Making these kinds of registries serves as nothing but the precursor to full confiscation. The liberal left has been playing the long game for decades now, and with each right, we hand over, or liberty we surrender they are winning. If this keeps up it won’t be long before muzzleloaders and flintlock pistols are the only legal firearms. Even then, the crooks will still have regular firearms.

An action like this cannot be taken laying down. We as the American people need to stand up and tell them enough is enough. Coming after our guns is the mantra the left has claimed would never happen, and that is precisely what is happening. If allowed to continue unchecked, we will find ourselves quickly under socialist rule and pining for the good old days.
