In classic Rowling fashion, the “Harry Potter” author and unapologetic advocate for women’s rights took The New York Times to task on Monday for its attempt to sugarcoat the tactics of transgender activists. Rowling, who has long been a target of their aggression, pointed out the absurdity of the Times’ claim that trans activists might need to soften their “unsparing criticism” now that Democrats have lost the 2024 election and Americans are increasingly skeptical of gender ideology.

Taking to X, Rowling shared a Times article and called out the blatant revisionism. “The rewriting of history begins,” she wrote before laying out the reality of what she and others have endured for daring to speak up for women and girls. Spoiler: it’s not just a few angry tweets or passive-aggressive op-eds.

“I’ve been sent thousands of threats of murder, rape, and violence,” Rowling wrote. Let that sink in. Thousands. One gem even included her family’s address alongside a bomb-making guide. Another activist tried to doxx her child but botched it, targeting the wrong person. Rowling could write a novel about the harassment her family has faced—and that’s not hyperbole.

But wait, it gets worse. Rowling recounted how others have suffered even more: livelihoods destroyed, physical assaults, female politicians needing security details, and leading UK endocrinologist Dr. Hillary Cass advised against using public transport for safety reasons. She’s not exaggerating when she says the “insanity” has run amok.

And now? The tide is turning, and the activists who thought calling feminist women “Nazis” and letting men into girls’ locker rooms were peak progressiveness are waking up to a harsh reality. Rowling was quick to point out the obvious: maybe it wasn’t the best strategy to brand concerned parents as bigots or destroy lives in the name of “inclusion.”

Rowling wrapped it up with a warning: the reckoning is coming, and the receipts don’t lie. “Mealy-mouthed retconning” won’t cut it when the full impact of gender ideology is laid bare. According to Rowling, when the truth finally surfaces, it’s not going to be pretty—and there’s far too much evidence to sweep under the rug.

JK Rowling: still undefeated in the battle of wits and, apparently, reality checks.
