Brace yourselves, folks. The Democrats are getting awfully comfortable with the idea of marital infidelity, according to a new survey. Remember the good old days of 2000 when 85% of Republicans and 77% of Democrats agreed that cheating on your spouse was “always wrong”?  Those days are long gone.

Fast forward to today, while Republicans have mostly held the line, with 84% still clutching their pearls, Democrats have seen a dramatic 17% drop, with only 60% maintaining their stance against infidelity. (For those keeping score at home, that’s a 23% increase in Democrats giving the thumbs-up to a little extramarital action.)

This fascinating shift is brought to you by the Institute for Family Studies (IFS), which found that Democrats are now 23% more likely to admit to cheating on their spouses. And why, you ask? Well, it seems the rise of open relationships and polyamory has quite a bit to do with it.

Polyamorists, those champions of juggling multiple partners at once, are spreading their gospel, which aligns perfectly with the Democrats’ left-wing views on sex and gender. IFS notes that polyamory is all about maximizing personal choice and sexual fulfillment—two values that progressive folks just can’t resist.

According to Polyamory For Us, the secret sauce of polyamory involves using your jealousy for self-growth. Instead of telling your partner to stop doing something that makes you jealous, you’re supposed to dig deep and figure out why you’re feeling that way in the first place.

And it’s not just the Democrats who are in on this trend. A 2023 Pew poll shows that a slight majority of people under 30 think an open marriage is perfectly fine. Unsurprisingly, married adults who identify as straight aren’t quite as enthusiastic. Meanwhile, unmarried cohabitating individuals and those identifying as lesbian, bisexual, or gay are much more likely to approve of open marriages compared to their straight, married counterparts.

All this data comes from the 2022 General Social Survey (GSS), which polled 4,149 adults across various modes of communication. So, there you have it, folks. The times are a-changing’, and Democrats seem to be leading the charge into a brave new world of relationship dynamics, where cheating on your spouse is becoming more acceptable. What’s next, cheating on your taxes? Oh wait, they’ve already done that, as evidenced by Hunter Biden.
