Oh, Kamala Harris, the eternal punchline of Republican banter. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) thinks we might be underestimating her – and he’s not shy about saying so. On his latest “Verdict” podcast with Ben Ferguson, Cruz delivered a scathing critique on how Republicans are treating Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential bid. Our collective eye-rolls might be a grave mistake.

Cruz contends that Republicans are falling into a trap of dismissing Harris as a joke, simply because they don’t find her particularly impressive. According to Cruz, it’s met with chuckles and sarcastic remarks whenever Harris’s name comes up. But let’s not get too comfortable with that snarky attitude. Cruz warns that this underestimation might be our biggest blunder.

He argues that the media’s relentless promotion of Harris as some modern-day saint – a blend of Mother Teresa, Oprah, and Gandhi – should not be ignored. Despite the dismissive jokes, Cruz suggests billions of dollars worth of free media have painted Harris as a dynamic, historic candidate. So, while it’s easy to laugh off Harris as a punchline, Cruz thinks we might be missing a bigger picture.

Let’s be clear, Cruz is still confident in a Trump victory come November. However, he’s quick to remind us that a Trump win is far from guaranteed if Republicans don’t take this race seriously. His message to the party is straightforward: don’t get too cocky. Assuming victory is a surefire way to make sure it’s anything but. In other words, it’s not time to sit back and relax.

On another note, Cruz has some robust predictions about President Joe Biden’s plans for his son Hunter. He’s convinced that Biden will issue a pardon for Hunter before he leaves office, but only after Election Day. According to Cruz, Biden’s decision to step out of the presidential race makes this scenario more likely. He argues that Hunter Biden will indeed receive a pardon, with the timing coming as no surprise to him. “Hunter Biden will get a pardon as a result,” Cruz states, “but it will not happen till after Election Day.”

So there you have it: Ted Cruz’s take on the 2024 race is a call to arms for Republicans to stop treating Kamala Harris as a joke and brace for potential political maneuvers that could affect the outcome. His message is clear: take the competition seriously or face the consequences.
